Derby Christmas Ice Rink is now Closed.
The Derby Christmas Ice Rink 2013, which ran for a six week duration over the Christmas period, has seen a record number of skaters taking to the ice. Skater numbers reached just under 17,500 for the festive filled event in Marketplace.
The event, which has grown in popularity year on year, kicked off with a fabulous display from a number of young skaters at the launch event on 29th November.
Gem106 joined us again as the media partners for the Ice Rink and made a weekly appearance with their photo frame, capturing all the fun. Not seen your photo with Gem106 yet? Click here to have a look.
Live entertainment took place on the ice rink stage every Saturday in the lead up to Christmas, in partnership with the Cathedral Quarter. Entertainment included Knickerbocker Glorious, Salvation Army, Regiment Band and more. The mixture of entertainment and festive markets nestled nicely alongside the rink, made for a magical setting once again in Marketplace. Additional highlights included the iconic Christmas Coca-cola truck raising festive joy in mid-December and the Hip Hop on Ice event, featuring some of the countries leading Hip-Hop DJ’s, created a themed night for our skaters to enjoy.
On behalf of all the team at the rink we would like to thank you for visiting, we hope you enjoyed your skate and we look forward welcome you again in the future. An additional big thank you to our sponsors and partners involved in the rink this year Showplace Ltd, Derby LIVE, Cathedral Quater, Gem106, Quad, Nando’s, Cosmo and Penguin PR.
